COREY TAYLOR Wants To Give Metal And Hard Rock 'A Little Spotlight' On His Radio Show
March 3, 2016SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has just launched a new radio show on Apple Music's Beats 1. Titled "A Series Of Bleeps With Corey Taylor", the first installment aired yesterday (Wednesday, March 2) on Beats 1. The shows will also be available on demand within Beats 1.
"They asked me to do exactly what I wanted to do, which was to split it up with half talking and half music, but not sticking to a strict regimen," Taylor tells Rolling Stone. "I wanted to talk a bunch of stream-of-[consciousness] smack and play the music I would want to hear."
In "A Series Of Bleeps With Corey Taylor", the singer explores a theme and plays his favorite metal, rock, rap, and more.
"As much as [the metal] genre is celebrated around the world, we don't get a showcase for it," Taylor says. "When we do, it gets shut down completely. So for me, if this is the only shot I get at being able to hold up the music that I love and show people that hard rock, heavy metal or punk is just as good as any of the bullshit that's out there right now, I'm going to do it. This is me, representing what I love and what I believe in, giving our genre a little spotlight."

Taylor published his third book, "You're Making Me Hate You: A Cantankerous Look At The Common Misconception That Humans Have Any Common Sense Left", last July.
The book acts as a commentary on society and pop culture said to be in the style of the late George Carlin.
Taylor promoted the book with a combination of bookstore events and a solo tour which were one-of-a-kind shows featuring readings from the book, acoustic performance, and audience discussion.
Taylor's second book, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven", was published in the summer of 2013 and landed at No. 23 on the New York Times "Hardcover Non-Fiction" best sellers list.
